Sometimes a post gets on the spam list and is barraged with ads for sex, viagra, or general gibberish. So, these posts end up locked. This removes the form for adding comments. But, I forgot how sneaky spambots were in that once they've come across a form, they no longer need to use it to post, so there was still blogs posts getting spamaholic mania.

I've finally did a bit of an edit to the processing page to prevent anything being posted if the blog is locked. This, should, stop spam from posting comments to locked topics. Next stage in spamfighting is to make to necessary to use the form, and then to make captcha thing to help identify the commenter as a person not a bot.

One of tia's blog posts kept getting spam comments even after a captcha was implemented. I did some research and found that once it got one captcha image correct it kept using it over and over. So I put a session check on the captcha that was independent to the rest of the blog software. Oh, spam bots are getting around captchas now by having a porn site and when some one trys to access the porn they get shown a captcha that the bot is currently stuck on and they have to fill it out to access the porn. Programmers have made bots that spam us by fooling other people to do the most difficult computational part for them.

I've been aware of it for two months. If I hadn't been you'd see over 200 spam comments. Did you? Nope, you saw one night's worth. I have been deleting spam comments daily for two months.
